LIGHTED DOOR SILL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
MUSTANG 2005-2009 AND 2010+

WARNING ABOUT WIRING. THIS STEP IS NOT RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOU ARE A FORD DEALER. WE ONLY SUGGEST THESE SILLS ARE WIRED UP TO A 12v POWER SOURCE. ANY 12V POWER SOURCE WILL DO. YOU MUST USE WITH A SIMPLE TOGGLE OR PUSH BUTTON SWITCH FOR ON OFF FUNCTION. THIS WAY YOU WILL HAVE FULL CONTROL ON WHEN THESE ARE ON. HOOKING UP TO COME ON WITH DOORS WILL VERY MUCH LIMIT THE LIFE OF THE PANELS AS THEY WILL TURN ON DURING DAYLIGHT TOO. WIRING ON THERE OWN SWITCH ELIMINATES THIS. THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER IS A GREAT PLACE TO PULL THE 12V FROM. GROUND IS ANY METAL SURFACE ON THE CAR. YOU CAN ALSO RUN RIGHT OFF THE BATTERY TO KEEP IT SIMPLE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE A 15AMP FUSE IF YOU DO THAT OR THE WARRANTY IS VOID. THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER IS ALREADY FUSED.

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW SO YOU HAVE A GENERAL WAY ON HOW TO INSTALL THE PANELS. IF YOU WISH TO WIRE UP TO MAP LIGHTING PLEASE SEE BELOW. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TROUBLE SHOOT AND ISSUES YOU COME ACROSS THOUGH AS WE RECOMMEND ONLY THE ABOVE WAY TO INSTALL

Step 1
Using an 8mm wrench, loosen the negative battery terminal and remove from battery.

Figure A.

Step 2
Grasp each side of the map light console and pull down to reveal the black and white wires leading to passenger side map light on the under side.

Figure B.

Step 3 Connect the short end of the supplied fused red wire to the black wire leading to the passenger side map light as shown in Figure A.

Step 4
Connect the supplied black wire (nearest fused end of red wire) to the white wire of the map light. Figure A.

Step 5
Run the red and black wire from map light assembly under the leading edge of the headliner near the windshield over to the passenger side window pillar.

Step 6
Tuck fuse holder between back side of map lights and snap map light console back into place by aligning tabs of console to corresponding slots in roof and pressing firmly until locked into place.

Step 7
Remove both of factory sill plates by grasping and pulling straight up and evenly both sides.

Step 8
Remove the passenger side kick panel by first pulling the left side (nearest the firewall) out, then carefully pull bottom out towards rear of car to remove.

Step 9 Pull passenger side window pillar molding out enough to route red and black wire behind it and down to kick panel area.

Step 10
Snap window pillar molding back into place with firm pressure.

Step 11
Prepare factory sill plates by thorough cleaning with warm soap and water, drying and cleaning again with rubbing alcohol and clean terry cloth towel. Be sure that no residue from waxes or cleaners are present on the top surface as this will impair the adhesion of sill plate cover.

Step 12
Determine which lighted sill plate cover is the passenger side by looking at the back side. The wire should be leading towards the right, or front of the vehicle when facing the passenger side.

Step 13
Using a small utility knife, cut a small u-shaped groove about 1/8" wide and 1/16" deep in passenger side sill plate where shown in Figure C so that the wire from cover may freely pass through without being crimped upon installation.

Figure M.

Step 14
Remove the adhesive backing from the passenger side sill plate cover and apply over sill plate being sure that the wire wraps around to back side through the cut u-shaped groove. Apply firm pressure around the outer portion of sill plate cover to promote good adhesion.

Step 15
For the driver's side, repeat steps 13 and 14 being sure that the u-shaped groove is cut on the left side of sill plate.(or towards front of vehicle)

Step 16
Remove driver's side kick panel by removing the plastic retaining pin in kick panel near firewall. The screwdriver should be used to pry and pull straight out to remove the pin. Pull bottom of kick panel out towards rear of car and remove.

Figure P.

Step 17
Remove the adhesive backing on one of the voltage converters and apply to vehicle where shown in Figure C. Now do the same with the other converter and apply to exact opposite side of car in the lower kick panel area.

Step 18
Connect red and black wires from map light console in passenger side kick panel area to the red and black wires of passenger side voltage converter. (Red to red and black to black)

Step 19
Connect remaining supplied red and black wires to red and black wires in step 18 and route under carpet over to the driver's side voltage converter and connect red to red and black to black.

Step 20
Reinstall kick panels making sure that the black wire with connector from the voltage converter leads towards where sill plate mounts and can be seen for connection.

Step 21
Connect the black wires with connector from each of the sill plates to black wires with connector from each voltage converters.

Step 22
Install both sill plates with mounted lighted covers by aligning the tabs of the sill plates with rectangular holes in rocker panel of vehicle. Be sure that the black wire with connector does not interfere with the tabs or holes in rocker panel of the vehicle.

Step 23
Reconnect negative battery terminal and tighten.
