| Lighted Door Sills
Installation Instructions for MUSTANG 1994-2004 |
Step 1 Using
an 8mm wrench, loosen the negative battery terminal and remove from
battery.
Figure A. |
| |
Step 2 Remove
both (left and right) inner factory sill plates by grasping and
pulling straight up and evenly both sides.
Figure B. |
| |
Step 3 Remove
both driver's side and passenger side kick panels by prying retaining
pin out, then pulling bottom out towards the rear of the car as
shown in Figures C and D.

| |
Step 4 Using
a hack saw, cut two small slits about 1/8th inch deep 1/8 inch apart
where shown in Figures J (passenger side) and L (driver's side)
at rocker panel seem. Then break off center portion to allow for
shielded wires to pass through to inside passenger compartment.
File the sharp inside edges of U-shaped channels on both sides of
vehicle to prevent wire chafing.

Step 5 Remove
the adhesive backing on one of the voltage converters and apply
to vehicle on driver's side where shown in
Figure F. |
| |
Step 6 Now
do the same with the other converter and apply to exact opposite
side of car in the lower kick panel area.

| Step 7 |
|
For 1999 through 2004 Mustangs:
Step 7a Pull back the carpet by the driver's side
sill area to access the wiring harness along side of the driver's
seat. Connect the short end of the fused positive (+) wire to
the lime green wire with orange stripe in the factory wiring harness
as shown in Figure I.

Figure I
Step 7b Connect the other end of fused positive wire to
red (+) wire of driver's side voltage converter. At that same
connection, connect one end of the red side of long red/black
wire. (supplied)
Step 7c In the upper driver's side kick panel, locate
the grey with red stripe wire in the 20 pin connector of the body
control module and connect the black (-) side of long red/black
wire with diode to this wire.
Step 7d Now that both red and black wires are connected
at one end, run the other end under the carpet along firewall
behind center console to the passenger side voltage converter.
Step 7e Connect the other end of the red/black wires to
the red and black wires of the passenger side voltage converter.
Step 7f In that same 20 pin connector as described
in step 7c, find the yellow and black wire and connect the black
(-) side of the driver's side voltage converter with diode to
this wire. |
| |
|
For 1996 through 1998 Mustangs:
Step 7a Connect the black wires of both voltage converters
to the blue and orange wires located in both driver's and passenger
side kick panel area.
Step 7b Connect the short end of the positive (+) fused
wire to the yellow constant 12v positive (+) wire located in the
ignition wiring harness next to steering column under the dash.
|
| |
|
For 1994 and 1995 Mustangs:
Step 7a Connect the short end of the fused (+) wire to
the black and light blue wire found in the lower driver's side
kick panel area.
Step 7b Connect the longer end of the fused (+) wire to
the red (+) wire of the driver's side voltage converter. At that
same connection, connect one end of the red side of long black/red
wire.
Step 7c Run the other end under the carpet along firewall
behind center console to the passenger side voltage converter.
Step 7d Connect the other end of the red/black
wires to the red and black wires of the passenger side voltage
converter.
Step 7e Connect the last black wire of the long red/black
wire to the driver's side voltage converter black wire, then to
negative ground. |
| |
| Step 8 Prepare
factory sill plates by thorough cleaning with warm soap and water,
drying and cleaning again with rubbing alcohol and clean terry cloth
towel. Be sure that no residue from waxes or cleaners are present
on the top surface as this will impair the adhesion of sill plate
cover. |
| |
| Step 9 Remove
the adhesive backing from the sill plate covers and apply over lower
sill plates being sure that the black sill plate wires exit to back
side through the cut u-shaped groove. Apply firm pressure around
the outer portion of sill plate cover to promote good adhesion.
|
| |
Step 10 Wrap
wire with the protective wrap where wire travels through groove
to prevent wire chafing as shown in Figures P and N and connect
wire from lighted sills to the connector of the voltage converter
pushing firmly until connector locks in place.

| Step11 Reinstall
kick panels in reverse order as removed and fasten with retaining
pin. |
| |
| Step 12 Snap
upper factory sill plates in place being sure that wires are routed
through the u-shaped groove and are tucked under carpet. |
| |
| Step13 Reconnect
negative battery terminal and tighten. |
